GAC- Growth Analytics Centre
I honestly tried but could not stop myself by sharing the experience of one of the greatest events i ever attended in my entire career. I am one of those lucky participants who got an opportunity to participate in "Innovathon- 2K17" final round which was conducted by Growth Analytics Centre of ABI.
Of course, it was not an open entry. To reach the finals, there was a simple complex problematic statement with 2 countries beer sales volume data (masked data) and participants had to analyze the data & provide the solid insights of business. They called this a screening round. There were 99 teams in total attempted this challenge and only 23 teams had made it to the final round. We (Divya, Lokesh and I- Team CSC) were one of the final 23 teams.
The real excitement begun when the announcement made on the events of the final round. It was planned for 2 days innovative camp like an event where they asked each team to be present at the venue 36 hours prior to the main event. Each team was given an ample amount of time to work on the final business statements and allowed teams to work all through the night. They had assigned a mentor to each teams and set up the platform to interact with mentors on the doubts/clarifications on the provided business problem. Our mentor was Maninder, Business Analytics.
As soon as we reached the venue, we were stunned by looking at the way GAC team organized the event. I can now say, they had set a high standards and showed the entire ABI the way of "How an event should be organized & executed?''. I greatly appreciate our coordinators - Prateek & Srinidhi. They have done an extraordinary job in organizing an fantastic Innovathon event.
GAC is a multi- storey building located in the heart of Bangalore, on Vittal Mallya road. Each floor had approximately 6 seat tables with all the necessary requirements to perform our practice. They also arranged dedicated seats for each team by displaying the team numbers. Teams were expected to sit based on their number series. This arrangement avoided confusions to the participants and also proved the standard level of the Innovathon event. In simple, All planned with well execution. They made all the preparations and arrangements to provide each participants a very comfortable working environment.
Divya, Lokesh and I knew that we were not the best but all we were excited for to understand the analytical approach towards the business problem & to engage ourselves with the rest of the ABI units. We did really succeed in both the aspects. We were so fortunate to work with the brilliant analytical experts, our mentor & IIM/IIT brains Ajith (our new friend from IIT). When we say analytics, its definitely not as simple as that word sounds. Its just a very simple complex method of solving the easily identifiable toughest problems of the 2 to 3 small cities by thoroughly evaluating the entire World's data". That's all!!
I was never a innovation kind of guy because my all time favorites being Costing and Accounts The "Innovathon" event was my first experience to feel the essence of innovation. After attending this grand event, i can now shout and tell the entire World that "If people want to see how the mixture of creativity, analytics & technology work?" Please guide them to "Innovathon event". Its a collaboration of talents with abundance experience where nothing would be taken into consideration except the best.
My key take-aways:
Happy Reading!!

My key take-aways:
- Innovation never ends - Its really very important to give an innovative exposure to operations as well as other internal business units.
- We either win or we learn- We should never let our learning curve go down in our career graph irrespective of business domain.
- Implementation: It is easy to think but execution is what turns the dream into reality. Always search for an alternate ways of working.
- Open & Challenging: Be flexible and ready to accept the change. If we don't change now, change will change us to an extent where we never dare think about change.
- Reading: Keep reading and sharing. The more you share, more you gain.
" I am Super excited to hack the world of learning all over again and go back strongly to the next edition of Innovathon with more analytical skills and structural approach".
Let the preparations begin👍👍👍
